Calgary Stampeders Sign Three D-Linemen


CALGARY, AB-The Calgary Stampeders have announced the signings of three import defensive linemen, Malik Jackson, Odell Willis and Remond Willis.

Jackson was with the Oakland Raiders in 2008 and the 6-2, 230 pounder played for the Louisville Cardinals for four seasons. He started 21 games at linebacker for Louisville, and had 138 tackles, 10 sacks and four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and one interception in his career.

Odell Willis played for the Peoria Pirates and Green Bay Blizzard of af2 during the 2008 season. The 6-2, 265 pounder and had 13.5 sacks in 11 games with the Blizzard. He attended West Georgia and had 126 tackles, 20.5 sacks and six forced fumbles during his time there.

Remond Willis attended Tennessee State University and compiled 139 tackles in two seasons with the Tigers. The six-foot-one, 248-pounder transferred to Tennessee State from the University of Illinois, where in 2005 he was named to The Sporting News Freshman All-America and Freshman All-Big Ten teams. He played 11 games for the Fighting Illini and played on defence and special teams.

Calgary also announced the release of import defensive linemen Ryan Riddle and Montey Stevenson.
