Calgary Stampeders Sign Pair of Imports

CALGARY, AB-The Calgary Stampeders have announced the signing of two import linebackers, Tray Blackmon and Kurt Campbell.

Head coach and general manager John Hufnagel said of the signing,"We saw these linebackers at the free-agent camp in Florida and they both jumped out for different reasons. Blackmon is a typical inside-the-box middle linebacker who has great football instincts and plays with a nasty streak. Campbell is a very athletic outside linebacker who tested well, plays hard and shows a lot of versatility. They’ll definitely be in the thick of the competition at camp."

Blackmon entered his name in the 2009 NFL Draft and went undrafted and wasn't signed by anybody after the draft but the Auburn product, had 84 tackles the past three years.

He was named an SEC All-American in 2007, and Freshman All-American in 2006.

Campbell was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft and has also had stints with the Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans.
